Columbia High School student charged with attempted murder

A Columbia High School student in Nampa who police say stabbed his ex-girlfriend earlier this week will be charged with attempted murder.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Canyon County Prosecutor's Office, Wyatt Weist, 17, was messaging his ex- girlfriend during his third period class on Monday. They met after the class in the back parking lot area and after becoming frustrated with the conversation he stabbed his ex-girlfriend.

"I became extremely frustrated and attacked," Weist said to detectives. "I felt very strong feelings for her and all I wanted to do was give her love and support... and she just left me.. saying she wasn't interested in me. I blame her for my mental state today."

Weist told detectives that he tried to stab her repeatedly and that "all I wanted to do was inflict damage."
